Marcelo gives perfect reply to Gareth Bale being whistled at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid cut a sorry figure last night as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Visitors Valencia at the Bernabeu. The Whites started the game off brightly with Asensio giving Madrid the lead but since then Madrid failed to capitalise on their chances as they missed too much. Valencia took advantage and went into the lead 1-2 late in the second half. However, Spanish Youngster Marco Asensio salvaged a draw for the Spanish Champions with a stunning free kick at the 83rd min.
Two men in particular cut a sorry figure for the whites. Especially Bale, who was subbed by Zidane in the second half and the Welshman was jeered on his way to the bench.

The Bernabeu made their frustration heard as they were totally unhappy by Bale’s performance. Manager Zidane defended Gareth Bale saying:
“Gareth Bale is an important player in the squad. Nothing more than that. If you ask me, Gareth is Gareth. We will keep working and will count on Gareth as we do with everyone else. That’s it.”
Zidane also defended Benzema in his post match press conference saying:

“What happened with [the jeering of Karim Benzema] is not a problem. I’ll tell him to keep working. The most difficult thing is to have chances to score. He didn’t score, but has worked a lot and you can’t blame a player for missing chances.”
Real Madrid Captain of the night, Marcelo was also questioned about Gareth Bale being whistled by the fans and his response was as straight as it gets. Speaking to El Chiringuito, Marcelo said:

“When the BernabĂ©u whistles at you it is normal, you have to work hard so that they don’t whistle you,” said the Real Madrid Vice Captain.
That’s perhaps something Gareth Bale needs to take note of and start working hard if he wants to avoid being whistled by the Santiago Bernabeu.
